In 2003, ISO 7010 was created with an intention to use common, internationally recognised symbols on safety signs. Until now, this has been a ‘best practice recommendation’ and so the UK has continued to abide by our own standard, BS5499. From the 1st April 2012 this is set to change as ISO 7010 could become a European Normative – EN 7010

Even today slips, trips and particularly falls remain the single biggest cause of workplace fatalities and major injuries. It is reported that over 10,000 employees suffered serious injury last year because of a trip, slip or fall, which can be costly to employers and the Health Service.
