New Member Spotlight - Welcome Ian Cresswell to the Team

I started out as management trainee at MJ Gleeson, before establishing myself at R Mansell as a young Site Manager before moving indirectly falling into safety as a Project Manager with a contractor installing fall restraint & fall arrest equipment. I moved onto John Laing as a trainee H&S Adviser, and then spent 20 years at Durkan, with 15 of those served as Director of H&S Leadership. Post Covid, I felt I’d achieved what I set out to achieve at Durkan and moved to ISG, a Tier 1 Contractor as Head of H&S for their London Division which was a great learning experience.

Paul Lennon and I first met as young safety professionals in the 1990’s and our careers went separately down the consultancy and contractor routes. The opportunity arose to work together at PIB, and this was the perfect opportunity and challenge with something I believed I could add value to and something which would give me some stretch for my own development.

I work as Associate Director & Head of Construction for Baily Garner (Health & Safety) as part of PIB Risk Management reporting to Paul Lennon, Zach Gray & Adrian Robinson. We have a great team of Principal Designers, CDM Advisors and H&S Inspectors across arrange of businesses and sectors.

The Team have been great in helping me on my way and I’m getting up to speed on how things are done but also with one eye on the future plans for the business.

One interesting fact about myself is that I am Landlord of the Shed Gin Club in my back garden, where friends and family can enjoy a selection of 40+ Gins. Current favourites are Piston Gin, Twisted Nose and Bathtub gin.
